Concerns over health and safety at TITP

After 18 years at Balado in Kinross, Scotland’s favourite three-day music festival, T in the Park, was moved to a new venue at Strathallan in Pershire in 2015. Following a review by Barbara Renton, Environment Service director for Perth and Kinross Council, it was stated that the 2015 event attracted the most complaints and negative comments since the festival’s beginning.  There were concerns over traffic management as well as the health and safety of festival goers.

General security was not up to standard

Complaints regarding vehicle congestion, with people being held up for several hours to get in and out of the car parks have been received.  In addition to this, complaints about people wandering on dark roads together with concerns about people congestion in the venue have been raised.  It was felt that general security was not up to standard at the event.  DF Concerts, who manage the event, have confirmed that they are “entirely focused” on making improvements and recognise that failure to do so will result in the event being discontinued at Strathallan.  Local residents have also complained of congestion on the roads, antisocial behaviour and littering.

The 3-day event attracts daily crowds of about 85,000 and is attended by some of the world’s top music artists.  DF Concerts have expressed how disappointed they are that they “did not achieve the high standards of event management and customer service that we have set for ourselves”.  They have noted the concerns raised in Perth and Kinross Council’s report and have given their assurances that festival goers will not be disappointed in 2016.
